Friendtime Listening Party - Episode 003 - I Want You, I Want You (She's So Heavy), She's So Heavy!

Episode Three, technically. I have shortened the format until I can afford some proper web-hosting. I will return to the longer format unless you like this better.

New Podcast, Happy Martin Luther King, Jr B-day celebration.

So I made the new podcast, but am still juggling the best way to distibute for free. So Friendtime Listening Party is on hold for now, which is perfect, because it is a holiday.

It had been a long time before this morning since I had seen this speech in it's entirety.
Awesome.

That's what we watch?

I know, everyone is tired of cynical/idealistic bitching about media and our culture, but seriously. We were watching Good Morning America this morning ( I know, my bad) and they spent about a minute and a half on the fact that two Democratic Senators are planning not to run for reelection. I know, not super exciting or anything, but fairly important as far as the legislative future of our country is concerned.
Maybe a minute was adequate for that story, but in contrast to the 7 and a half minutes they spent on the death of Johnson and Johnson former heiress, Casey Johnson it is pretty telling of where most people's heads are, and it is at least a little scary. They made a giant story of this relatively non-contributing member of society, including excerpts from interviews not deemed television worthy before she died, and of course web cam clips from she and her fiance, Tila Tequila. They also brought in a hack relationship therapist to say that the parents, in light of their daughter's publicized death, probably did the wrong thing in cutting her off when she repeatedly relapsed in her fight with addiction. Where was Terry Real (douche bag publicity whore masquerading as an expert) when Johnson was alive?
I didn't know anything about Casey Johnson before she died, and I am not all that interested in finding out more about her because she is dead. I'll also reserve judgment on the family since I have no clue what relationship they had with their daughter and I honestly feel sorry for their loss.
I would however love to be more informed about the change up in our federal legislative system, if the change matters, more probably, why it doesn't matter, and what we as well informed media consumers and active citizens could do to change it.
No, fuck it, I'll just buy some more stuff.
On a more positive note, iTunes genius play list hit Brian Eno's "Slip Dip" from The Drop spot on, so I am listening to some great random songs while I kick out some more corporate propaganda. I am not listening to John Cougar Smith Jacob Jingleheimer Mellow Mellencamp's "Ain't that America."

New Office

Been thinking about doing this for a while. Finally got around to it. I love it. 6 by about five and a half feet of plastic wrapped office space. But hey, whatever it takes to get the job done, right. Getting back into the groove and getting a lot more done creatively. Today I'm working on the cajun dome graphics in the cs4 suite. I'll be doing dome work all week, but soon, fun time. I'd say that this is a considerable improvement over the tarp contraption I had made. And warmer, too. I also made my own lamp out of led lights and left over two by four scraps.
